A two seat truck only works while both children want to drive. The younger one gets bored of being a passenger long before the older one gets bored of steering.

A rocking mode on the console moves the truck evenly back and forth without it going anywhere. A toddler in the second seat gets motion without the truck leaving the patio, and the driver can carry on with the music, the lights and the dump bed while it happens.

Two up in pink

Two seats side by side under an open cage, each with a belt, and a tipping bed behind them. Openable doors with a safety lock sit either side of the cabin.

Eleven buttons, one console

Track controls and volume, a rocking mode, lights, high and low speed, a wireless connection, an aux input, a USB port and a battery display. The maker letters each one on its own diagram, and the rocking function gets its own inset.

How the bed works

Push the switch and the bed raises or lowers by itself; the tailgate drops separately. It measures 19.5 in by 8 in by 4.5 in, which is enough for a decent load of sand or leaves.

What we stand behind

• Speed, battery, charge time, age band, weight capacity, dump bed size and dimensions are the manufacturer's published figures.
• The 110 lb weight capacity is for the vehicle. No per seat limit is published for the two seats.
• The published top speed of 5 mph is faster than an adult walks. Use the remote's three settings and keep the emergency brake to hand.
• No run time per charge, motor count or remote control range is published.
• A toy for supervised play on private property. Never on a road, a sidewalk or a bike path.
