The tabletop here has a 1.97 in hole through the centre, which sits inside the 1.75 in to 2 in band most patio umbrellas are made for. The pole stands where the shade is needed. The umbrella and its base are bought separately.

A bench is not only a bench

Forty eight inches of seat with an open frame underneath works as an entryway bench too. The maker's panel calls the acacia natural, sturdy and enduring, and asks you to apply wood polish oil regularly to extend its lifespan.

What is under the wood

The legs are metal pipe wrapped in mix brown PE rattan, tied together with reinforced crossbars and finished with non slip foot pads. That is where the 800 lb bench rating comes from rather than from the timber.

Does an umbrella come with it?

No. The table is drilled with a 1.97 in hole but the umbrella and the base are separate purchases. A base is needed even with a drilled table, because the hole steadies the pole rather than holding it down.

How many people fit on a 48 inch bench?

Two adults comfortably. Everyday dining guides allow 24 in to 27 in of space per person, and 48 in split two ways is 24 in each. Three children fit on one bench without trouble.

Is the bench at the right height for the table?

The bench seats sit 16.5 in from the ground and the tabletop is 30 in, which leaves 13.5 in between them. Furniture height guides call 10 in to 12 in comfortable for dining, so this is a little roomier, which suits a backless bench.

What upkeep does the wood need?

The manufacturer asks you to apply wood polish oil regularly, and does not include any. Left bare, acacia weathers to a silver grey over a few seasons without losing strength. Oiling is what keeps the original colour.
