Wood that needs feeding
Grey by August
Acacia is hard and heavy and it looks superb on the day it arrives. Left to itself outdoors it silvers, the grain opens and the surface goes rough underfoot and under hand. The maker's own note on this set asks for the wood to be oiled regularly and does not put any oil in the box.
Two jobs a season
A bottle of exterior hardwood oil and an hour in spring and again at the end of summer keeps the armrests and the tabletop the colour they arrived. Clean the wood first, let it dry, then wipe the oil on thin. Nothing about the weave or the metal needs it; it is only the acacia.
Three pieces: two loungers and a square side table, all sharing the same mix brown weave. Each lounger carries a 2.5 in cushion tied to the frame, an acacia armrest on each side and a back that steps through four heights. The table stands 16.5 in high, which puts it level with the deck of the loungers rather than above it.

The maker labels them napping, sunbathing, reading and chatting. Both loungers adjust separately, so the four settings are per chair rather than for the pair.
The wood
Acacia on the tabletop and on both armrests of each lounger. Acacia left outside greys and dries out. The maker asks for the wood to be oiled regularly and does not supply the oil, which is worth budgeting for at the start rather than discovering in year two.
Underneath
A metal frame with cross nylon straps supporting the cushion rather than a solid panel, which lets water through, and non slip pads on the feet. Cushions and their zip off covers come indoors for a Canadian winter. The maker also asks that rain exposure be avoided, so a cover or a covered corner suits this set.
