A desk height bookcase, 19.5 inches wide, whose shelves move in 1.2 inch steps through eighteen positions.
Fixed shelves decide what you are allowed to own. These move in 1.2 inch steps through eighteen positions, so a run of tall art books, a record crate or a printer can all be made to fit. The cabinet stops at 29.5 inches, which is standard desk height.
Level with a desk top
At 29.5 inches tall it finishes flush with most desks, so the top becomes an extension of the work surface. Depth is 12 inches, which takes a binder front to back or a printer sitting squarely on top.
Nineteen and a half inches wide
That is narrow enough for the gap beside a chair or a bed, and still wide enough for a row of paperbacks turned face out. The raised top edge keeps anything round from rolling off the back.
