4-in-1 8000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Cool, Fan, Dehumidifier and Sleep Mode

Four modes rather than three: cool from 61 to 90 F, fan on two speeds, dry at 40 pints a day and a sleep setting that eases the temperature up overnight. Rated 8,000 BTU ASHRAE, 5,000 BTU SACC, for a room of about 250 sq ft.

The one room in the house nobody can sleep in

What usually goes wrong

Upstairs bedrooms hold the day's heat long after sunset. Opening the window lets in street noise and does nothing on a still night, and a fan only stirs the warm air around.

How this one answers it

It removes heat from the room rather than moving it, out through the hose to the window. Sleep mode then lifts the set point slowly through the night, and the child lock stops the panel being nudged.

Reading the capacity honestly

Both ratings are printed together here, which is unusually straight. ASHRAE 8,000 is the lab figure, SACC 5,000 is the seasonally adjusted one, and 250 sq ft is the coverage matched to the SACC number. Size your room off the smaller figure.

Eight buttons, no menus

Sleep mode, child lock, timer, temperature, fan speed, mode and power sit on the panel as separate keys. Nothing is buried. The remote reaches from 16.5 ft, which covers the far side of most bedrooms.

Check your window before you order

The kit adjusts between 25.5 and 47 inches and works on sliding windows, up and down or side to side. Casement windows that crank outward are a different shape and want a custom cut panel. Measure the opening first.

What you get

Sleep mode as a separate setting

Not just a quiet fan speed. The set point drifts upward through the night so the compressor runs less while you are asleep.

Child lock

Freezes the touch panel. Useful in a nursery or any room where the unit sits at toddler height.

ETL and DOE listed

Both marks appear on the manufacturer's own product artwork for this model.

Dry mode at 40 pints a day

For the sticky days when the thermometer is reasonable and the air is not.

Manual and continuous drainage

Empty it by hand, or fit the 2.1 ft hose to the port and let gravity do it.

Standard Canadian outlet

115V, 60Hz, 7.0 A. No dedicated circuit and no electrician.

Who is this perfect for?

Bedrooms where sleep is the point

A dedicated sleep mode and a rated 55 dB or under, rather than a machine you switch off to get any rest.

Households with small children

The panel locks, and the unit is ETL and DOE listed on the manufacturer's own artwork.

Rooms around 250 sq ft

The coverage figure is tied to the 5,000 BTU SACC rating, so treat it as one room rather than a floor.

Frequently asked questions

What does sleep mode actually change?

It lets the set temperature drift upward through the night instead of holding one number. The compressor cycles less, the room stays comfortable as your body cools, and the unit gets quieter. The 1 to 24 hour timer can also shut it off entirely at a chosen hour.

Is 8,000 BTU or 5,000 BTU the number I should trust?

5,000 BTU, the SACC figure, if you are matching the machine to a room. It is the seasonally adjusted rating that accounts for real temperature and humidity, and it is generally lower than the ASHRAE number for the same unit.

Does it need a special outlet?

No. It draws 7.0 A at 115V, 60Hz, which is an ordinary Canadian household socket on a normal 15 amp circuit. Avoid running it through a light duty extension cord.

How much water will it collect?

It depends on the humidity, not on the machine. Dry mode is rated at 40 pints a day at full tilt, but in dry indoor air you may see almost nothing. Fit the drain hose if you plan to run it through a humid stretch.
