Why does it look thinner than other trees?

Because it is meant to. The manufacturer states the shape emulates the sparse foliage of fir trees and lists room to hang ornaments as a benefit. A dense tree hides what you hang on it, while an open one lets pieces sit in the gaps where they can be seen.

What is TPE foliage?

A softer, more flexible plastic than the PVC used on most artificial trees. Here it gives the tips a soft feel and takes a colour gradient along the branch, which is what keeps an open tree from looking like a flat green stencil.

How long is the cord?

Eight and a half feet, stated on the manufacturer's dimension drawing. That is long enough to reach a wall socket from the middle of a room, so there is usually no need for an extension lead across the floor.

Will it fit an 8 foot ceiling?

It will stand, but only just. Sizing guides suggest leaving about a foot above the tip for a topper, and at 7.5 feet that leaves six inches under an 8 foot ceiling. A 9 foot ceiling suits it better, or use a flat topper.
