7 FT Fibre Optic Christmas Tree with 820 Branch Tips

Seven feet tall on a three foot spread, with 820 PVC branch tips and fibre optic strands threaded among them that cycle continuously through colour. There is no light string anywhere on this tree.

A fibre optic tree is a different object from a pre-lit one, and understanding the difference is most of the buying decision. There is no string of bulbs here. A light unit in the base feeds colour up hundreds of thin plastic fibres that run out through the branches, and each fibre glows at its tip. The result is an even wash of colour that shifts continuously across the whole tree rather than points of light switching on and off in places. Unlit, it is a plain green spruce with no wiring showing anywhere, because the fibres vanish into the foliage. Lit in a dark room, it is one of the few artificial trees that genuinely does not need decorating.

Seven feet, three feet across

Seven feet of height on a three foot spread, which is slim for the height and is what lets a tree this tall stand in a room that could not take a conventional seven footer. Allow an eight foot ceiling once the stand is under it, and remember that a topper covers the leading fibres.

820 tips and the fibres between them

The 820 PVC branch tips give the tree its shape, and the fibre strands threaded among them give it its light. Every fibre changes colour together rather than independently, so the tree moves through a cycle as a whole. Power runs through an adapter the maker describes as UL listed.

Two trees in one

The manufacturer's own side by side is the most honest thing on the page. Daytime, it is an ordinary green spruce with nothing visible on it. Evening, it is a colour display. Decide whether the daytime version earns its corner, because for most of December that is the one you will be looking at.

Decorate lightly or not at all

The maker says the PVC branches will carry ornaments, and the photographs show it dressed. In practice a heavy set of baubles blocks the fibre tips and buries the effect, so a few pale ornaments spaced out works better than a full traditional scheme.

Who is this perfect for?

Narrow rooms that still want height

Three feet of spread at seven feet tall is slim for the height. It fits where a conventional seven foot tree would have to sit out into the room, and at 17 lb one person can move it.

People who would rather not decorate

This is a tree that is finished when it is plugged in. No string to wind on, no lights to test, and ornaments are genuinely optional rather than expected.

Children's rooms and playrooms

The slow colour change is the whole appeal for a small audience, and there is nothing hanging on it to pull off. The manufacturer photographs it with children around it for a reason.

What we stand behind

  • The baubles, stars and gifts in the styled photographs are not included. The manufacturer marks this on its own images.
  • The 7 ft by 3 ft dimensions, 820 tip count and 17 lb weight are the manufacturer's published figures for this size, and the dimensions are confirmed on this SKU's own drawing.
  • No fibre count, colour list or cycle time is published, and there is no remote or steady-on setting listed, so we describe the effect rather than specifying it.
  • Ships from our United States warehouse, free shipping over $150, and 14 day returns unused in the original packaging.

Frequently asked questions

How does a fibre optic tree work?

A light unit in the base feeds colour up hundreds of thin plastic fibres threaded through the branches, and each fibre glows at its tip. There are no bulbs on the branches and no string anywhere, which is why the tree looks completely plain when it is off.

Can I turn the colour change off and hold one colour?

The manufacturer does not publish any mode, remote or steady setting for this tree, so we cannot promise one. Treat it as a tree that cycles through colour whenever it is on.

Is it bright enough to light a room?

No. Fibre optic light is diffuse and gentle. It is an atmosphere tree rather than a light source, and it shows best in a room that is already dim.

Can I hang ornaments on it?

Yes, and the maker says the PVC branches carry them. Keep them few and light. Every bauble that covers a cluster of fibre tips removes some of the effect, which is the opposite of what happens on a bulb lit tree.

What ceiling height does it need?

Seven feet of tree plus the stand, so an eight foot ceiling is workable and nine is comfortable. A topper will cover the fibres at the leader, which is worth knowing before you buy one.

How does it go together?

It splits into two sections. Set the lower section on the steel stand, add the top, then spread the branches by hand. At 17 lb one person manages it.

Can I replace a bulb?

There are no bulbs on the branches to replace. The light comes from a unit in the base, and no spare part or lamp specification is published for it, so we cannot promise that unit is serviceable.
