Free Standing Planter Box with Tall Trellis
Four feet of lattice standing in its own trough, which means a privacy screen you can put anywhere without fixing it to a wall.
Screens usually need something to screw into
Nothing to fix a trellis to
On a rented balcony or a concrete patio there is no fence post and no wall you are allowed to drill, so a climbing plant has nowhere to go.
The planter is the post
The weight of soil in the 25 by 11 inch trough holds a 48 inch lattice upright. Nothing is fixed down and nothing is drilled.
Solid fir throughout, finished dark brown, with an arched top rail and turned ball finials on the posts. The lattice mesh measures 36 inches by 25 inches, and two holes in the bottom board take the water away.

Measured
It stands 48 inches tall on a 25 inch by 11 inch base, with the trough taking up the lowest 12 inches. The inside of the box is 23 by 8.5 inches.
A crop, not just a screen
Climbing beans, peas and cordon tomatoes all take the mesh. By midsummer the lattice disappears and you have a wall of leaf and fruit.

Or flowers, if you prefer
Sweet peas, clematis and morning glory do the same job in colour. Hanging pots also clip onto the mesh above the trough.
What you get
36 by 25 inch lattice
A square mesh panel sized to carry a climber for a full season.
Free standing
No wall fixings and no posts to sink. The loaded trough keeps it upright.
11 inch depth
Narrow enough to stand against a rail or a wall without blocking a path.
Drain holes
Holes through the bottom board so water does not sit around the roots.
Solid fir
Fir boards throughout with a dark brown finish and a clear grain.
Takes hanging pots
The open squares in the mesh accept a hook for a small basket.
