A fixed bed commits you to one shape
The garden changes, the bed does not
Build one big bed and you are stuck with its outline. Move house, or just rearrange the patio, and it does not come with you.
Four boxes, many layouts
The boxes assemble into a long row, a square block, a stepped terrace or a stack. Pull them apart and rebuild them somewhere else.
Each box is moulded polyethylene with a woven rattan texture on the outside. The parts click together without tools: side plates, corner posts, a water storage plate and a self watering disk, with a plug in each side wall for draining.
One box, measured
Each box is 16 inches square and 10 inches deep. Stand it on the supplied legs and the rim comes to 17.5 inches off the ground.
Eight layouts in the box
The manufacturer sets out eight ways to combine the four boxes. The same parts give you a low run along a fence or a two level terrace.
Stack for height
Put one pair on legs above another and the lower plants still get light from the side. It doubles the growing area on the same patch of patio.

Moulded high density polyethylene, which the manufacturer rates for outdoor use.
Woven rattan texture
The outer faces carry a basket weave pattern in a dark brown finish.
