10 Feet 360° Tilt Aluminum Square Patio Umbrella without Weight Base-Navy
On this navy cantilever the canopy is screwed to its frame rather than just tucked over the rib tips, which is the part that usually works loose first. The frame is eight steel ribs on a powder-coated aluminum pole, the canopy a 10 foot square with a vented top, and it tilts through seven positions and turns a full circle on a pedal.
The canopy that slips off its ribs
Fabric pockets work loose in the wind
On many umbrellas the fabric just sits over the rib tips in little pockets. A few gusty afternoons and a corner pops off, and the canopy hangs crooked.
Fixed with screws
This canopy is screwed to the frame, a detail the manufacturer calls out on its own images. The vented top takes some of the pressure off in the first place, and the eight steel ribs keep the square taut.

Navy on silver
A dark navy square canopy on a bright aluminum pole. The arm reaches out from the top of the post and the canopy hangs from its end, so the ground under it stays open. The cross base at the foot ships with it.
Over the loungers
Two loungers under a 10 foot square of shade, the post set back on the decking. The canopy edge is 7.5 feet up and the pole 9 feet, so the shade feels high rather than closed in.

Round it goes
Press the pedal, turn the pole and the canopy moves round to face the sun. Nothing else moves. It covers a full circle, so the same umbrella can shade the loungers in the morning and the table at dinner.
Heavier fabric
The canopy is 240 gsm yarn-dyed fabric, heavier than most, with the colour in the fibre. The manufacturer rates it fade and weather resistant. Water beads on it in this close up.

What you get
Aluminum pole, steel ribs
A thick powder-coated aluminum pole carries eight steel ribs, so the frame resists rust and the canopy keeps its shape.
360 degrees on a pedal
Step on the pedal at the base and turn the pole. The canopy swings right round while the base stays put.
Seven tilt positions
The arm steps down the post through seven vertical positions, so the canopy can drop into low sun.
Crank lift
The same handle that sets the tilt winds the canopy open and shut, at chest height.
240 gsm yarn-dyed fabric
The colour is in the yarn rather than printed on, which is why the manufacturer calls it fade resistant.
Screwed-on canopy
The fabric is fixed to the frame with screws, so it cannot creep off the rib tips in a gust.
Vented top
A vent at the crown lets air escape upward instead of pushing on the whole canopy.
Cross base in the box
The cross base ships with it. The weights that sit on it are a separate purchase.

Who is this perfect for?
Rectangular dining sets
Square corners reach the end chairs that a round canopy of the same width leaves in the sun, and nothing rises through the middle of the table top.
Pool decks
It stands on its own cross base, so the shade can go over loungers where no table exists to hold a pole. Keep the post back from the water and on level ground.
West facing patios
Seven tilt steps plus a full circle of rotation are what you need when the worst sun of the day arrives at six, low and straight into your eyes.

Frequently asked questions
How is the canopy attached?
With screws, as shown on the manufacturer's detail image, rather than only by pockets over the rib tips. That keeps the corners in place on gusty days. The vent at the top reduces the load on them too.
How much will it shade, and how high is it?
A 10 foot square, so a six to eight seat table or two loungers. The canopy edge is 7.5 feet above the ground and the pole stands 9 feet, on a 40 inch base footprint.
Does it come with a weighted base?
No. The cross base is included and the weights that sit on it are not. No base weight is published for this model, so we are not going to invent one. A cantilever hangs its whole canopy off one side of the post, so load it more heavily than you would a centre-pole umbrella of the same width and close it when the wind picks up.
How should it be stored over winter?
Crank it closed, wrap the hook and loop strap round the canopy, let the fabric dry right through and store it dry. Canadian care guides agree the two things that finish an umbrella early are snow load on an open canopy and fabric folded away damp.
